Monday Mashup: Makeup Overhaul, Friends and Errands

Wow! My weekend flew by! This was an incredibly busy weekend. Friday night we finally got the tree out of our yard that fell during Hurricane Irene. Then we took the daughter to out for dinner at Applebees.
Saturday I cleaned the entire house. When I start to cleaning I tend to go a little crazy. I get into details that most people probably don't often consider. For example, while sweeping out the laundry closet I determined that I needed to clean out the lint filter on the dryer. Not your normal take out the collected lint. This was a full on assault. I scrubbed it and rinsed it out at the kitchen sink! From there I ended up going through all my makeup and tossing a bunch of it. I tried on every lipstick I own and threw out 30 of them.
I was able to reclaim an entire drawer for other things.

Here are a couple photos of the sink area after cleaning.

Here is an inside shot of my makeup case all straightened out and organized.

After that it was time to grocery shop as we were hosting the MMA fights for a few friends. By the time I had my cleaning done and the food prepared and ready to go out, I had an hour to get ready before our friends showed.
Unfortunately, only one of the couples we invited were able to make it. We had way too much food for just the four of us.
While the guys watched the fights, Stacy and I hung out in the kitchen. Here are the few photos I took of the night.

Sunday was just as busy a day. I had a list of things I needed to accomplish. First off I needed to research a new printer for our family. Fortunately, it didn't take me long to find one and it was in stock at our local Staples. I will buy local rather than order it off the internet when I can so that got added to the list of errands for the afternoon.
Next up, I ordered my Obagi skincare products. I placed my last order in February and it lasted me until just about a week ago. I love their products. Obagi seriously takes care of my complexion. Usually I use the Nu Derm system but I recently discovered they have a line of products for Rosacea. Yes, I have rosacea and it sucks. I have the kind that results in little stinging pustules that erupt on my chin and around my mouth. Most of my breakouts are stress related. I absolutely hate it. I have been managing it with a prescription of Metrogel and also the Obagi Nu Derm cleanser. I am really excited to try the Obagi Rosaclear line I ordered from ESkinstore.

There was a 15% off special so I got to save some money too. I can't wait to receive it. I will be sure to keep you posted on how well it works.

Next on the list was a run to the Mac counter at Nordstrom. I needed several different products as I managed to run out of several all at once. Mac has a really great program called Back to Mac.
From the Mac website:

Because we share your commitment to the environment, M·A·C accepts returns of its primary packaging through the Back to M·A·C Program. By returning six [6] M·A·C primary packaging containers to a M·A·C counter or M·A·C Cosmetics online, you’ll receive a free M·A·C lipstick of your choice as our thanks to you.

I have been saving my used Mac packaging for just this purpose. After going through my makeup yesterday, I had eight! Time for my free lipstick with two leftover to put towards my next one.
Here is the photo of my Mac Haul:

Product list:
StudioFix Foundation: $26.50
Prep&Prime Face SPF50 $30.00
Duo Adhesive: $8.00
Transparent Pressed Powder: $23.00
Kohl Eyeliner $15.00
Flat Defining Eyeliner Brush: $22.50
Back to Mac Lipstick (Mac Red): Free

The great thing about these products is they really last. They didn't have the Prep&Prime Line Filler in stock so I will have to buy that next time.

After this I headed over to Staples and picked up our new printer. I chose the HP Color Laserjet CP1525NW. Staples has a printer recycling program. Bring in your old printer and you receive $50 off the purchase of a new one. Score!
After taking my printer home and getting the husband to unload it, Morgan and I ran back out with the Bitty dog to get her Pawdicure done at PetSmart.
The top I chose to wear today is by Decree. I really like the print technique they used. Cranberry Nine West purse.
Bitty knows just where to go when we enter the doors.
She loves going to PetSmart and is always very excited for her pampering.
Look at that Bitty doggie!! She is ready to get her nails and teeth done.

With all my errands complete, we headed home so I could take care of my own nails.
All in all, it was an incredibly productive weekend. The only things I didn't complete on my To Do List was blog visiting and commenting, and reading the September issue of Vogue. I will have to do that during the week after work.
How was your weekend?
